We would like to thank the Cornbelt Choir for blessing us with the preservice music this morning at the 8:00 am service.

YOUTH TO VALLEYFAIR!

Youth, incoming 7th graders through 12th, are invited to go to Valley Fair this Saturday, July 31st.  A minimum of 15 people is needed! Sign-up sheet is in the Narthex.  They will leave from the church at 7:00 am and return in the evening.

CHURCH SOFTBALL

Tournament play results: we won the first two games but lost to the Leisurely Angels in the championship game.  Thanks to the fans and players for a great and fun season.  There will be a party for all involved at the Dunbar’s home today at 5:30 pm.

OUR BOUNTIFUL HARVEST TABLE

The “harvest table” is set up in the entry by the offices and is a way for us to share the abundance of our garden produce with each other.  You may leave your harvest on the table; others will take what they need. It is that simple. This will remain set up through the summer.

SAINTS ALIVE RETREAT AT CAMP

The Saints Alive Retreat is returning to Camp Okoboji for 2010! This retreat is for those 65 and older and will be held Aug. 20-22nd. Rev. Paul Sieveking, President of Iowa District West, will be the Bible Study leader. There will be 4 various interest sessions on Saturday. Registration forms are in the Narthex and the cost is $110.00 which includes meals, snacks, lodging and program expenses.

All donations should be placed inside the trailer.

LUTHERANS FOR LIFE

“Along with the facts about abstinence, parenting, adoption, and abortion, it is important for parents to talk with their teens before a crisis. Teens need to know there is nothing they could ever do that could not be handled with God’s help.” Grace Kern, director of Word of Hope

THE LUTHERAN HOUR

"Fools" Why would God call anyone a fool? God's Word gives us the answer: "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" (Luke 12:19-21)This can be heard next Sunday at 7:05am on KLGA.

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES

One characteristic of a strong, healthy family is that they anticipate and plan for change. They are flexible, and expect that they will have to make adjustments as children grow and family life changes. For example, a young boy grows to be a young teen who is now more independent and capable, and would benefit from being given more freedom, responsibility and respect within the family. In what ways is your family changing? Are you recognizing and adapting to these changes in a healthy way? Lutheran Family Service of Iowa  1-800- 622-7285.

LAURA STORY CONCERT IN ALGONA

A special RAGBRAI outreach concert by Laura Story, winner of 2009 Inspirational Album Dove award, will be held Monday, July 26th at the First Methodist Church at 7:00 pm following the dinner.  This is sponsored by KJYL Christian Radio and several area churches and residents of Algona.

THANK YOU so much to everyone who attended our 50th Wedding Anniverary open house, sent us a card or e-card, or wished us well.  You made it a very special day for us and

we appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Don & Judy Ludwig

TIDBIT OF THE DAY

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

What does “Amen” mean? Amen means Yes, it shall be so. We say Amen because we are certain that such petitions are pleasing to God in heaven and are heard by God. For God has commanded us to pray in this way and has promised to hear us.
