REMEMBERING THE FIRE

A congregational potluck will be held NEXT Sunday, March 14th in remembrance of the fire 50 years ago on March 13, 1960.  We would like those who were there to come and share their stories, and those who weren’t to come and find out what happened in our church that day.  You may write down your memories on forms in the Narthex; and sign the sheet if you were in attendance that day.  Please bring a dish to share as follows by last name: A-I bring a hot dish, J-R bring a salad, S-Z bring a dessert.  Meal will be at Noon with a program sharing the memories and discussion to follow.  Tableware and drinks will be provided.

STUDY BIBLE AVAILABLE

Carolyn Schuller has an extra Lutheran Study Bible for sale.  Please call her if you would like to purchase it.

ADULT INSTRUCTION CLASS

If you would like to know more about the Lutheran faith or just would like a refresher course, now is the time.  Pastor Turner is leading an instruction class at 9:25 am in the TLC conference room.

THE LUTHERAN HOUR

"The Sinner's Friend" Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus proved Himself the Friend of sinners. He reached out to those who needed Him most. (Luke 15:1-2) This can be heard at 7:05am on KLGA next Sunday.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS

Greta Meyer and Lisa Zeller will be taking blood pressure readings between the services this morning in Pastor Friedrich’s office (first door on your right, before Pastor Dunbar’s office). They will also take them next Sunday after both services.

CANS FOR CAMP

We are again collecting money (that you receive from redeeming your cans) during Lent.  Donations can be put in the orange can in the office and will be sent to Camp Okoboji after Easter.  Please do not bring in cans!  Any questions-call Donna Gadbury.

LUTHERANS FOR LIFE

“I think it is vital that society understands and appreciates the sanctity of every human life whether it is a developing child in the womb or somebody approaching the end of their life. When I graduate and become a doctor, I am hoping to be able to use my skills to help save lives. I think abortion is never the answer and hope that one day, as a doctor, I will be able to help women to make the right decision.”  Siobhan Fearon, 19, of Hull York Medical School

HOW CAN I HELP HAITI?

Thank you to everyone who donated health kits for Haiti! And thanks to the quilting ladies for the quilts.  We had a great collection and they will definitely help those who need it! Thank you for your generosity.

CARD CASE – Easter cards have arrived!

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES

Mark Twain once said, “Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.” Yet, growing old in our culture is seen as something to be avoided. People spend millions of dollars trying to look and feel younger than their years. Yet we know that, in Christ, our value is not found in how we look or in what we can do. We are valuable, just as we are, because Jesus says we are! He demonstrated this by giving His life as a ransom for ours. Does that make us valuable? You bet! Honor the older members of your family this week with a visit, telephone call or card. Let them know how much you value them, just as they are. Lutheran Family Service of Iowa
